Golijov’s piece commemorates Isaac Bashevis Singer, Leonard Bernstein and three children who perished at the hands of the Nazis. The Jewish experience is further explored in a tuneful piano trio by Mendelssohn, who was born Jewish; a sonata by Weinberg, whose family suffered from decades of anti-Semitic violence; and a charming piece that Prokofiev wrote while in America.

SERGEI PROKOFIEV Overture on Hebrew Themes, Op. 34
MIECZYSLAW WEINBERG Clarinet Sonata, Op. 28
OSVALDO GOLIJOV Yiddishbbuk for String Quartet
FELIX MENDELSSOHN Piano Trio No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 66
