Narek Hakhnazaryan Revelatory in St. Louis Symphony Debut

Narek Hakhnazaryan, cello

"A compelling artist who performs with an ease that belies his technical prowess. The immediacy of his sweet, soulful playing, coupled with the tonal purity of his 1707 Joseph Guarneri cello, made for gorgeous phrases in Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70."
– The Washington Post

Following recitals in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C., Tchaikovsky Competition winner Narek Hakhnazaryan returned to the United States last week to debut with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Hannu Lintu:

"Hakhnazaryan took on Tchaikovsky’s brief, lyrical Nocturne in D minor for Cello and Orchestra and then “Variations on a Rococo Theme,” in a revelatory performance that combined an exquisitely rich singing tone with lyrical grace and a spectacular technical prowess that made even the most elaborate of the variations seem effortless."
– St. Louis Post Dispatch

After a stellar debut with Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra this past fall, Hakhnazaryan has been immediately re-engaged to perform 4 performances of the Elgar Cello Concerto next season with conductor Nicholas Hersh.
