Due to a last minute cancellation, cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan will step in as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for concerts on October 27, 28, and 29. Led by Marin Alsop, he will perform Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, one of two pieces he performed in the final round of the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition in which he took home first prize. Orchestral appearances abroad include Hakhnazaryan's debuts with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Norway’s Stavanger Symphony, the Dresden Music Festival, and a return to Ireland’s RTE National Symphony Orchestra. He performs in recital with Pavel Kolesnikov at the Vienna Konzerthaus and with Oxana Shevchenko throughout Germany and at London's esteemed Wigmore Hall. He is Artist-in-Residence with the Malta Philharmonic, and following the brand new record release on Deutsche Grammophon with the Z.E.N. trio, he tours the UK, China, and Hong Kong with fellow trio members Zhou Zhang and Esther Yoo.
