The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra proudly announces its November 2008 United States tour led by the dynamic Venezuelan conductor
Gustavo Dudamel.

Its largest American tour in almost four years, the IPO, celebrating Israel's 60th anniversary, will perform eight concerts in seven cities from November 15-24 including Newark, New York, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, San Diego, Costa Mesa (CA) and
Los Angeles.

Gustavo Dudamel has received worldwide acclaim since he burst onto the international stage in 2004 at the inaugural Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition. Since then, Mr. Dudamel--a product of Venezuela's musical education system el Sistema--has gone on to conduct the world's finest orchestras and was recently named Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, effective the 2009-2010 season.

Mr. Dudamel made his first appearance with the Israel Philharmonic three years ago in Tel Aviv, and immediately felt a kinship with the Orchestra. Since his debut, he has returned to lead the ensemble in more than 30 critically-acclaimed concerts throughout Israel and Europe. During the Orchestra's 70th anniversary, The New York Observer called the IPO's performance of Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 conducted by
Gustavo Dudamel "stunning."

Whether during a time of unrest or relative tranquility, Mr. Dudamel's commitment to the IPO and the music has been unwavering. Two summers ago, he led a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in Haifa just minutes after Hezbollah rockets rained down on the coastal city--echoing similar experiences of
Leonard Bernstein, Isaac Stern and Zubin Mehta.

When asked to conduct this year's United States tour Mr. Dudamel immediately accepted, "I love to play with the Israel Philharmonic, the musicians and the energy they bring to every performance is something special."

At Carnegie Hall on November 17, the ensemble welcomes longtime friend of the IPO, and close colleague of Maestro Dudamel, Pinchas Zukerman. The renowned violinist performs Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor and Bach's Double Violin Concerto with young Israeli violinist, Nitzan Bartana.

Continuing its celebration of Leonard Bernstein's anniversary year, many venues will hear music by the Orchestra's famed Laureate Conductor. The IPO's flutist Eyal Ein-Habar appears as soloist for Bernstein's Halil, a nocturne for flute and orchestra; Jubilee Games, composed for the IPO's 50th anniversary, appears on many programs as well. In addition, tour concerts include works by Brahms, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky.
