American Brass Quintet + Tyshawn Sorey

Internationally recognized as one of the era’s premier chamber music ensembles, the American Brass Quintet continues its tradition of championing new works by distinguished American composers with a new commission from composer and multi-instrumentalist Tyshawn Sorey

Sorey—a 2017 MacArthur fellow and a 2018 United States Artists Fellow—has previously written for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, International Contemporary Ensemble,  and Alarm Will Sound, among others. The American Brass Quintet has commissioned over 100 pieces for brass quintet, including works by Joan Tower, Eric Ewazen, and George Tsontakis. Their latest album, Perspectives, is comprised entirely of works written for the group. Click here to view a full list of ABQ commissions. The Quintet is now seeking a select number of co-commissioners for this project.
