VERDI AND SIBELIUS QUARTETS: Northern Lights, Southern Sun
Does climate affect the way music is composed? This unusual program juxtaposes works composed near Earth’s 45th and 60th parallels, where temperatures and daylight hours differ dramatically. The Escher Quartet offers its signature performances of Verdi and Sibelius, while the indomitable duo of Alexander Sitkovetsky and Wu Qian provide bracing cold and soothing warmth with Verdi and Granados.

SCHUBERTIADE – Sold Out / Press Tickets Available
The “Schubertiade” was a concert invented during Franz Schubert’s lifetime by his friends, who would gather for long evenings to enjoy their favorite composer’s music. CMS offers a season-closing Schubertiade exploring Schubert in three different settings: his inimitable four-hand piano music, performed by Anne-Marie McDermott and Wu Han; his virtuosic vein with a violin-and-piano showpiece with McDermott and violinist Benjamin Beilman; and the epic and profound Trio in E-flat major -- which took the genre to unparalleled levels of complexity and emotional intensity -- performed by Wu Han, Beilman and cellist David Finckel.
