In Memoriam: Peter Serkin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of pianist Peter Serkin after a long illness.

A brilliant and unique artist, Peter tirelessly championed new works and approached contemporary music with the same depth, passion, and integrity that he brought to the classical literature. Peter was an artist devoted to a rich musical family legacy and his performances brought a friendly approach to the classical greats, steeped in a care of craftsmanship and a vibrancy that was uniquely his. As a teacher, Peter was beloved by his students and shared with them his joy and curiosity in music making.

I have shared a professional relationship with Peter for almost 40 years and beyond that, he was a close personal friend. This is a great loss to the musical world, one that we will honor in the years ahead with remembrances of his humor and wit.

It has been a great privilege for each and everyone at Kirshbaum Associates to work with him and to support his innumerable projects and ideas over the last decades. Our thoughts are with his loving family.
