The American Brass Quintet has served as an Ensemble-in-Residence at The Juilliard School since 1987. At Juilliard, the ABQ is responsible for coordinating brass chamber music, providing coachings for each of the individual ensembles and presenting these ensembles in recital each semester. Other highlights of the residency include an annual recital at Lincoln Center. Individual members of the American Brass Quintet also serve on the Juilliard School Brass Faculty.
The American Brass Quintet has served as an Ensemble-in-Residence at the Aspen Music Festival and School since 1970. The ABQ is responsible for coordinating the school’s brass chamber music program and providing weekly coachings to student ensembles; a highlight of this collaboration is the renown "Brass Bash," where all student ensembles have the opportunity to perform for the Aspen community. The ABQ also presents a quintet recital in addition to performing individually in chamber music, orchestra and solo settings. At the AMFS, individual members of the ABQ serve as music faculty teaching private lessons and serving as principal players of the Aspen Chamber Symphony and Aspen Festival Orchestra.
Brass Quintet Studies at the Aspen Music Festival
The AMFS sponsors five fellowships to a pre-formed brass quintet for the eight-week program. The Fellowship Quintet receives coachings and individual lessons from ABQ members, in addition to performing in collaboration with the American Brass Quintet and coordinating their own full length recital. Individual members of the fellowship brass quintet also serve as part of the regular orchestra rotation.

Mini-Residency program
An innovative and unique addition to our regular touring was launched in 2000 with our mini-residency program. This multi-day program was designed to create an intensive experience of musical interaction and instruction with ABQ members by providing participants with events relating to today’s most relevant topics for emerging artists. The ABQ draws upon our tradition of devotion to serious brass chamber music and expertise from worldwide performances, a vast discography and well over one hundred premieres, to create an individually tailored residency for colleges, high schools, or communities. Tremendously popular, this program has been embraced by venues throughout the United States and abroad. Our mini-residencies culminate in a formal recital presented by the ABQ.
